This quote, from Stephen R. Covey's book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," highlights the importance of "being the CEO of your life." 💼
'Urgent" tasks are things that come to us demanding immediate attention. They often come with a sense of urgency and are often driven by external pressures or other people's priorities (e.g. answering emails, attending to phone calls, or dealing with last-minute crises.) 🙋♀️❗🚨
"Important" tasks have long-term significance and contribute to core goals and values. They may not necessarily be urgent, but they are essential for personal and professional growth (e.g. strategic planning, relationship-building, personal development, and long-term goal setting.) 🚀💪🥅
Covey's point:
🚫 many of us get caught up in the day-to-day urgency of life, constantly reacting and never taking control of our time
👍 it's important to block out time to spend with the activities that support the larger goals and long-term visions you are working towards
Doing so allows you to proactively plan and allocate time to things meaningfully supporting your personal and professional effectiveness. By focusing on the important, you can prevent many things from becoming urgent and ultimately lead a more purposeful and fulfilling life. 😲
Have you tried this? Can you share about your experience?
Nice post, Cindy. My experience and appraoch. It doesn't have to be fancy. Can be on a piece of paper. But I normally use To-Do app that can sync across devices so it is always available to me. 1. Set the goal (big or small) that I want to achieve 2. List of all tasks needed to achieve this goal 3. Define priority
4. List down the tasks and order by priority
5. Work on the and mark "Complete" as I go.
Do this often and make it as a habit. The plan can be done without having to spend much.
